Texas A&M University Electrical and Computer Engineering and IEE PES have organized the Intelligent Systems Application to Power Systems (ISAP) Conference. The conference was held in San Antonio, Texas on September 17th-21st, 2017. Members of the local organizing committee included K. Butler-Purry (Conference Chair), C. Singh (Conference Co-Chair), L. Xie (Technical Committee Chair), H. Abu-Rub (Qatar), R. Balog, M. Begovic, M. Ehsani, M. Kezunovic, and B. D. Russell.
The theme of the conference was Big Data and Intelligent Systems for Big Energy. The conference featured a fantastic line-up of keynote and plenary speakers, unique local trips and dining experiences, and papers presented on current topics related to innovative intelligent system technique applications. The full paper was available in IEEE Xplore for the benefit of professionals, researchers, and students.
Plenary Sessions addressed topics such as Intelligent Systems Applications of Big Data/Analytics for Real World Problems; and Past, Present, and Future in Intelligent Systems Applications to Power. Speakers have been confirmed from CPS Energy, ERCOT, PJM, ABB, and PNNL.
The program planning committees did a fantastic job developing this conference, but the attendees make ISAP special each year. Scope:
The focus of this Panel was on different Big Data sources in the utility industry that range from field measurements obtained by substation, transmission line and feeder intelligent electronic devices, to specialized commercial and/or government/state databases. This Panel discussed the Big Data Analytics, which illustrated unique characteristics of Big Data in the utility industry where the temporal and spatial properties, as well as correlation to the power system and component models are necessary for an efficient data uses.
